Importance of co-curricular activities
Education surpasses the four walls of a classroom, as it aims to foster all round development of a child. The intellectual, physical, moral, sensible and social development of a child can be achieved only through systematic and value based education. Education plays a fundamental role in the making of a man and his development as a culturally well developed social animal. To fulfill these objectives, there is a prime need of striking a balance between syllabus, curriculum, books and also co-curricular activities beyond that.
Co-Curricular activities are those activities which are undertaken side by side along with the curricular activities. It gives the students an opportunity to develop particular skills and exhibit their non-academic abilities. Depending on the children's aptitude, our school has initiated music, yoga, karate, western dance, bharatanatyam and also sports activities. These classes are conducted on Saturdays, so that the regular classes of the students are not affected.
These co-curricular activities complement the curricular activities and groom the students in the "Art of living and working together". These true and practical experiences are gained by students by their own learnings.
A Chinese proverb very aptly states,
"Teach me, and I will forget. Show me, and I might remember. Involve me, and I will never forget."
